Rugby is one of the most popular international sports. Scotland is currently ranked the 10th best nation in the world by the governing body, the IRB, and, as such, SPORTFIVE is delighted to be able to distribute all 2nd and 3rd party rights to the Scottish autumn home test internationals from 2009 to 2013 that will take place in (or around) November each year. These fixtures will all be played in Scotland’s national rugby stadium, the impressive and prestigious Murrayfield located in Edinburgh. SPORTFIVE will also be responsible for the tender process for distribution of domestic rights from 2010 for a period of up to six years.
Scotland will play host to some high-calibre opposition in the confirmed tests of 2009 and 2010, including 3 IRB World Cup winning nations – South Africa (holders), Australia and New Zealand. The likes of Argentina, Fiji and Samoa will also present tough southern hemisphere competition for the Scots in what should produce some thrilling rugby.
As well as handling international distribution for the fixtures, SPORTFIVE will also be responsible for worldwide signal distribution. High-quality production is guaranteed from the host broadcaster.
